JP042 Bb Tenor Saxophone

The JP042 is a high performing yet attractively priced Bb Tenor Saxophone. This instrument has found a well deserved place both as a student model where is widely used in schools and also in professional environments with many players using them everyday in live and studio performances. The JP042 benefits from excellent instrument design, with the beginner in mind but capable of a high standard of play, and is musically versatile with good tonal and dynamic characteristics. With a standard of components and specification usually reserved for more experienced instruments, the JP042 has been described as having "a distinctive and very bright sound" (read Pete Long's full review in the reviews tab below). Constructed from yellow brass throughout, the instrument has impressed many with it's rigid structure and hard wearing mechanism and has even drawn very positive impressions from some expert makers.

The JP042 Bb Tenor Saxophone is available in seven unique finishes and features decorative engraving on the crook and bell. The instrument also includes adjustable thumb rests for improved comfort and high specification features such as abalone pearl keys, Italian leather pads and blue steel springs for better tension and reduced rusting.

"...quite frankly, blows all the other intermediate instruments clean out of the water. There is now no point buying anything else until you feel you are ready for your first professional standard hooter. No point. Even then, it will make a very useful spare! This tenor has a distinctive and very bright sound, ideal for cutting through in this context. Also, I felt that I had unrivalled access into the altissimo register, and I was able to play cleanly up to the F# above top F#. The lower harmonics especially felt very easy, and the top G# available here was the best I have ever had. On the quiet numbers, it was very easy to produce a bluesy subtone. The feel of the keywork was very positive, especially the low Eb/C and the left hand little finger stack, and the instrument felt proper. Unlike most budget instruments, it weighs the same as a real one, and it's lacquer job leaves nothing to be desired."

"The guys at Selma were really impressed with how well it was kept. Everything has worked and to me, it still feels sturdy and accurate in the mechanics. Amazing! I'm teaching about 20 kids and adults on a weekly basis and I always recommend your horns to them. Because in my experience they sound good, tune good and are worth their pennies! My saxophone arouses a lot of questions from my colleagues all over Europe and I always tell them that I love this saxophone and been using it instead of the Selmer. What I really like with the saxophone is the sound, it sounds fatter and wider than my mark VI will ever do."
