John Packer Musical Instruments wins prestigious Best in Show award at NAMM 2024

John Packer Musical Instruments, the UK-based musical instrument retailer and manufacturer, has won a prestigious Best in Show award at the 2024 NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Show in California.

The company was honoured with the Best in Show – Company to Watch accolade at the closing breakfast session of the major trade show in the city of Anaheim, where it was exhibiting its extensive range of John Packer brass and woodwind instruments, and Michael Rath Trombones.

It was the second award for JP at NAMM 2024, following the presentation of a NAMM Milestone Award, marking 50 years in business for John Packer Musical Instruments, and comes after JP recently announced the acquisition of Rath Trombones.

Rob Hanson, director of John Packer Musical Instruments, commented: “Winning a NAMM Best in Show – Company to Watch award is a huge honour in what has been a wonderful start to 2024.

“We aim to provide a first-class service to our customers and dealers around the world, ensuring efficiency and the highest standards, and being recognised by NAMM in this way is a major achievement.”

Rob Hanson continued: “NAMM 2024 was a huge success for John Packer Musical Instruments, as we caught up with colleagues and friends old and new. We were proud to showcase our extensive range of brass and woodwind instruments, and the addition of Michael Rath Trombones proved to be extremely popular.

“Among the instruments causing particular excitement were Rath Trombones, and John Packer Musical Instruments is extremely proud that Rath Trombones will continue to be built by Michael Rath and his excellent team at the company’s factory in Honley, in Yorkshire. We look forward to bringing these magnificent instruments to customers all over the world in the coming months.”

Discussing John Packer’s success, Laura Penrose, owner of Nick Rail Music in Santa Barbara, California, and a panellist in the NAMM Best in Show awards, said: “They just purchased Michael Rath Trombones, and they’re just really great people to work with.

“I can’t wait to expand our work with them with the new addition of Rath Trombones.”
