International Women's Day is celebrated annually on March 8 and is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
This year's theme is Balance for Better, and we're really proud that we have a female financial director, sharing the daily helm with Rob Hanson. Annie Gardner (back, upper right ) will be marking 25 years with the company this year. Having spent her formative years in Devon, Annie joined John Packer Ltd in June 1994 and became a Director and Company Secretary later that year. Her financial background was formerly in hotels, but after initially being the only the member of the Finance Department when she first came to John Packer’s, she now has a strong all-female team around her who help her keep an eagle eye on the finances of the company.
Women make up 40% of the workforce and feature in all departments at John Packer Musical Instruments except currently the warehouse. However, it's all hands on deck when we're unpacking containers at our Somerset warehouse.
So here's to all the women in the music industry - we know more widely there's great inequality, but at John Packer women are most certainly valued just as highly as their male counterparts.
