Bassoon virtuoso and Just For Winds owner, Mary Stuckemeyer, recently reviewed the new JP291 ABS Bassoon and was highly impressed with its quality, attention to detail and overall performance across all registers.

The new JP291 is a highly durable student bassoon which doesn’t compromise on performance. With an ergonomic and durable mechanism, it is ideal for schools, music services and training orchestras as well as individuals. The instrument is made from high grade ABS which mimics the tonal qualities of wood ensuring a warm, even tone. This improved model builds on the original JP191 MKII but offers a higher level of performance that will see players through to the higher grades.

Mary was especially impressed with the evenness of the scale in low, middle and high registers. She felt the instrument displayed a vibrant tone quality with a unique ease of response. The build quality and durable construction of the instrument also impressed Mary who said:

“The keywork feels very comfortable. It's been layed out very well. The spring tensions are really nice"

Features normally reserved for more expensive models could also be found in abundance with the inclusion of a high D and high Eb & E key. The JP291 also features a left hand whisper key lock, hand rest and 2 seat strap ring holes.

Mary felt the JP291 ABS Bassoon was a great choice for bassoon students offering a high level of performance for its price point.
