A new and revolutionary trumpet design by UK instrument designers, JP Musical Instruments, recently caused a stir at an evening of jazz at the world famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London. A twin bell trumpet, played by Freddie Gavita, was one of the many highlights in the performance from Ronnie Scott's Jazz Orchestra. The two distinctly separate bells enable players to quickly interchange between muted and unmuted play, a feat impossible on a traditional trumpets. Especially relevant to contemporary and experimental jazz, the trumpet has caught the eye of students and professionals alike looking for new technology to aid their creativity. 

The twin bell trumpet, previously dismissed as simply a novelty item, is now finding a unique place where is excels in the rich tapestry of music.With jazz swiftly growing in popularity again, you may be seeing a lot more of the twin bell trumpet. 

The JPTB Twin Bell Bb trumpet from JP Musical Instruments is a regular medium large bore (0.459") yellow brass trumpet finished in lacquer. A smooth rotary change over valve provides players to easily switch between each bell effortlessly. The instrument is supplied with a lightweight case and JP601 mouthpiece however responds well to an upgraded model such as the Yamaha 4C.
