The JP011 is perfect for new players looking for their first full size flute. This beginner model is very capable of supporting new players through the lower grades. Designed especially with younger players in mind, the JP011 is a favourite with the UK education system for supporting swift progression.
Our guide to buying your first flute will help you know what to look for and explains the different features that can be found on a flute.
The JP011 has all the features that would be expected on a good quality student flute. These include Offset G keywork, which provides a comfortable and ergonomic hand position which can feel more natural for new players.
Also a split E mechanism which supports players when playing high E and adds stability to the tone across all registers.
A responsive cut head-joint encourages quicker learning and a more developed sound.
My 10 year old daughter saved her pocket money for this after using an old 'much loved and used' instrument at school...what a difference it has made to her playing and motivation. It's a manageable size, the case is great for organising everything, and the price will allow us to replace it with something more advanced in a couple of years (although it's probably well up to the job for longer than that). I've given it a four rating because,at the end of the day, it is a budget option, but there's no doubt, for us, it's a great one.
This is a good size flute for a beginner. My fingers can reach all the keys easily and I was able to blow a good sounding note the first day I got it. It is not too long so I can sit correctly while playing, and the case is the right size and colourful, so I don't mind people seeing me carry it at school.
The JP011 is supplied with a lightweight case with shoulder strap, cleaning rod and gauze cloth.
