John Packer JP043 Bb Soprano Saxophone

Code: 101898,101899,101900,101901,101902,102006

The JP043 Bb soprano saxophone is a straight bodied saxophone that is ideal for both learners or existing players looking for a second instrument at an affordable price.

This saxophone is designed to take the player through the lower grades, provide an introduction into saxophone playing and allows players to explore the soprano sax solo, band and sax choir repertoire.

Unique benefits

There are many features on the JP043 that are present on more professional models. Two crooks, one curved and one straight offer a choice of angle to increase comfort.

An underslung octave mechanism also improves instrument reliability whilst blue steel springs are rust resistant with better tension memory.

Italian leather pads create a great seal that translates into a fuller sound that is more responsive which lasts longer than conventional pads. Resonator pads also improves projection and gives the tone more depth.

The instrument also features front F, high F# and high G keys and a floating plate design for the little finger (left hand) cluster, this aids faster movement once players have become more proficient.

An adjustable thumb rest allows a more natural and comfortable hand position to be achieved. A sling ring also provides the opportunity to make the instrument even lighter with the use of the provided sling.

The appearance of the JP043 has been enhanced with engraving, abalone pearls and a range of modern finishes.

I purchased this instrument with no prior information on the brand, but did my research and found decent reviews. I made the purchase, and expected very long shipping times, but was pleasantly surprised as it arrived within the week! The instrument came in an amazing case, and the mouthpiece and reed supplied were OK. The instrument came well assembled with no visible errors or broken pieces, and my first impression was overall good. I have had it for a few weeks, and am surprised with the value for the low price, however I could not give a 5 star review for a few reasons... 1. The silver plated parts are terribly scratched, and was just not what I was hoping for with a new instrument (however JP clearly stated in their support section that they do not cover silver plated blemishes, so I suppose I should have read more carefully, but still disappointing...) . 2. The ligature is a little small to fit standard reeds (however it still does the job) 3. The corks on both crooks came with tears in them, so putting on the miuthpiece promptly ripped off pieces of the cork. Overall, (never having played a soprano before) I have found it is fairly easy for a student to play, and have not had terrible intonation issues, as many other sopranos can have. The Black Laquer and silver key finish is amazing, and I have received many comments about how elegant it looks. I would say this is a good instrument for anyone wanting to build on saxophone skills and experiment with soprano at a modest price for people with a budget. The one downfall is craftsmanship issues, which if remedied would have easily boosted my rating to 5 stars.

I recently purchased the above Soprano Sax from you and am so impressed with it I felt I just had to contact you. I already play tenor and alto saxes in a local swing band and also a saxophone quintet. In order to dep. for our Soprano player when he's absent, I'd been playing with the idea of getting a Soprano of my own but since it wasn't going to be my main instrument, I was reluctant to spend a fortune on getting one. A friend pointed out your website to me and although I would normally be reluctant to buy before I tried an instrument, I decided to take a chance and place an order. Upon receipt I was impressed by the build quality and general feel of the instrument as well as the attractive and practical case. I have to say though that the mouthpiece supplied with it is only just adequate and initially I wasn't too taken with the sound. However, once I replaced it with a Yamaha mouthpiece and a Van Doren reed, it sounded superb and this is the only thing I would say by way of criticism. I played it today at a gig and my fellow players were as impressed with it as I am. This Soprano represents incredible value for money particularly when compared to the entry level sops made by Yamaha and the like. I am hardly of the same stature as John Whelan, who has provided a glowing account of this model on your website, but I am more than happy to add my testimonial to his in order to recommend this instrument to others. Thanks for your prompt service - keep up the good work. I shall certainly recommend you to others.

I received the new Soprano a few days ago.....I can't believe how good it is, not only to play but the quality of workmanship and the standard to which it is built is incredible!. We always expect to struggle with intonation a little with the best of Sops, but you just blow this and everything is there. It is without doubt the best Sop I have ever blown. I will be recommending it to all of my colleagues in the profession. I wish these instruments were around years ago. Many thanks for your speedy and efficient service.
